Psychological depth.

Executive reality.

James Fox founded Unitive Mind™ to bring depth-psychological inquiry into the private context of senior leadership—where judgement, authority and relationship carry consequence, and where the person holding responsibility cannot always examine the interior dimension inside the system itself.

The position

The work begins where competence stops being sufficient.

Senior leaders rarely need another model of leadership. The more difficult questions often sit beneath technique: why a particular conflict persists, why authority narrows under pressure, or why a familiar response returns despite understanding it intellectually.

The person exercising authority is part of the system they are trying to understand.

That changes the nature of the work. It requires a confidential relationship outside the organisation, close enough to executive reality to understand the stakes, and psychologically rigorous enough to examine the leader's own participation without reducing the issue to behaviour or performance.

My role is not to supply certainty. It is to help make visible what is shaping judgement, relationship and authority beneath conscious intention—and to stay with that material long enough for a different response to become genuinely available.

Formation

A long inquiry into what
actually changes a person.

Unitive Mind™ did not begin as a methodology assembled from theory. It emerged from sustained inquiry across leadership, contemplative practice and Jungian depth work—different disciplines that converge on the same question: what makes greater consciousness possible under real conditions?

01

Leadership & business

Years inside responsibility made one distinction difficult to ignore: competence can produce performance without resolving the psychological patterns carried into decisions, relationships and systems. What remains unexamined in the leader often acquires organisational expression.

02

Contemplative practice

Contemplative practice developed a different faculty: the capacity to observe experience without immediately becoming fused with it. That space between activation and action is not withdrawal from leadership; it is one of the conditions for exercising authority with greater choice.

03

Jungian depth work

Jungian analysis provided language for the structures operating beneath intention—shadow, projection, complexes, persona and individuation. It made possible a more exact inquiry into why intelligent people can understand a pattern and still find themselves governed by it.

A personal introduction

For those who want to understand the lived formation behind the practice.

The professional background is only part of the story. James has written a fuller account of the path through recovery, leadership, contemplative practice and Jungian analysis that eventually led to Unitive Mind™.

Working philosophy

A private relationship held
to a particular standard.

The quality of this work depends as much on the conditions in which it occurs as on the ideas brought into the room. The relationship must be private enough for candour, direct enough to resist evasion, and grounded enough that insight is tested against consequence.

01

Private

The work sits outside the organisational system. There is no institutional agenda to satisfy, no audience to manage and no requirement to convert interior material into a performance narrative.

02

Direct

Respect does not require vagueness. When a projection, defence or recurring pattern becomes visible, the work is to name it carefully and examine its function—not to make the conversation more comfortable than the material warrants.

03

Developmental

The aim is not a polished performance of self-awareness. It is greater freedom of response: more capacity to remain conscious when criticism, conflict, uncertainty or responsibility activates the pattern most likely to take over.

The standard

The work is measured less by how compelling an insight sounds than by what becomes possible when the pressure returns.

The aim is not to remove difficulty.
It is to become less governed by it.

Private enquiry

Begin with the leadership question.
Fit can be determined from there.

Send a brief private enquiry outlining the leadership question or recurring pattern you are carrying. James reviews enquiries personally and will respond where there is a relevant next step.
